About Us

The National Association for Canine Detection (NACD)—a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization based in Pennsylvania—provides education, training, and certification in the care, handling, and deployment of K9 teams serving law enforcement and public safety. These highly trained teams strengthen community protection and assist local, state, and federal agencies.

Core Training

• To provide K9 training classes, seminars to improve the 

   the ability of the  K9 teams to execute their assigned job.

 

• To establish a minimum-working standard and approve the

  abilities of the canines in police and detection work, so they can

  better serve the community.

 

• To coordinate the exchange of ideas of any advanced training    

  techniques utilizing police canines

 

•To promote camaraderie and teamwork among all those

    interested in the training and utilization of a canine in the field.

                                                Charitable Mission

In collaboration with Red, White & Blue K9 (RWBK9), NACD proudly provides service dogs at no cost to veterans and first responders living with physical disabilities and mental health challenges such as PTSD, PTS, and anxiety.
This life-changing program is made possible through community fundraising, charitable contributions, and grant support.

These dogs are made possible through fundraising, grants, and charitable support.

  • Beneficiaries: Veterans and first responders dealing with physical injuries or trauma (e.g., PTSD).

  • Cost to Participants: $0 — dogs and training provided free of charge National Association.

  • Services Provided:

    • Expert canine training and handler awareness programs.

    • Certification of K‑9 teams to industry standards.

    • Focus on trauma-informed support and public safety application

K-9s are certified as part of a “K-9 Team,” meaning that each K-9 undergoes training that meets and exceeds industry standards and provides examinations through the National Association for Canine Detection.
These are conducted with a select handler with live explosives or Illegal drugs.
